I will admit I do not cook often; however, these Sausage Cream Cheese Bundles have me wanting to cook more regularly! I can follow a recipe, and found the original version of this one on the Pillsbury website. Personally, I think anything made with Crescent rolls can make me swoon, they are so good! So, here goes:
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb. pork sausage (I used the homemade version from O’Brien’s Supermarket)
- 1/2 cup chive and onion cream cheese (Philadelphia of course, from 8 oz. tub)
- 1 can refrigerated Pillsbury Original Crescent rolls (8 count)
- (this can be substituted with (8 oz.) Crescent dough Sheet)
Instructions
- Heat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Using a skillet (preferably non-stick), cook the sausage on a medium high heat setting, about 4 to 5 minutes. Stir during cooking; make sure the sausage is not pink. Drain.
2. Unroll the dough on a work surface. Press it into a rectangle that is 12 x 9 inches. If using the Crescent roll package, press the dotted lines together so it is solid. Using a pizza cutter or knife, separate the dough into rows. 6 rows on one side, 4 on the other side. There should be 24 squares when you are done.
3. Take the cooked sausage and put approximately one heaping teaspoon in the center of each square of dough. Put about one teaspoon of cream cheese on top of the sausage. Take the four corners of dough and close them together on top in the center. Pinch to seal, twisting if necessary. Leave the gaps open. Place on a cookie sheet, grease not required.
4. Bake between 10 and 14 minutes or until golden. Serve up warm!

The sausage and more
I used the homemade version from O’Brien’s supermarket in Modesto, California. It’s the best I have ever had! Admittedly, anything made with magical Crescent rolls are delicious. Unfortunately, I lack imagination; so I wanted to share this recipe and will add a picture to this page as soon as I make them again. The original recipe called for hot pork sausage and spicy jalapeno cream cheese spread. I like spicy, but my face does not; so I used alternative ingredients to make it. Since they were relatively easy to make (even for me!) I recommend you give these Sausage Cream Cheese Bundles a try! I did dip them in some marinara and they were even better. Swoon!
As I made these sausage cream cheese bundles for the first time, I was featured on a show called The Wine and Dine Show. To watch the episode, just follow this link. Also, if you would like to try the wine featured in the show, just go to another page on my site: Fine Wines. Enjoy!
